"This photograph was taken in Accra, Ghana, in the 90's. The woman in the photo is the mother of a friend who gave me the permission to use their family archives in the project. I wanted to explore the theme of resilience and strength, and I felt that featuring women in bold, vibrant settings would best convey that message.
This is the first time I incorporate car windows into my work. I wanted to experiment with unconventional ways of presenting photos and push the boundaries of traditional photography. The car windows became a symbol of mobility, freedom, and the blurred lines between public and private spaces.
Through these works, I aim to celebrate the beauty and resilience of African women, while also highlighting the importance of self-expression and individuality. I hope that these images inspire viewers to embrace their unique stories and experiences, to find beauty in the everyday moments and spaces that often go unnoticed."
