Nil Gallery is pleased to present a selection of works by Philip Aguirre y Otegui, Gommaar Gilliams, Simon Buret, and Anaïs Maar at the Dallas Art Fair, taking place from April 10 to 13, 2025. These artists explore the balance between chaos and harmony, inviting reflection on transformation and renewal through their diverse mediums and approaches.

This edition of the Dallas Art Fair marks Nil Gallery’s first collaboration with Philip Aguirre y Otegui (b. 1961, Belgium), whose practice spans sculpture, textile arts, installation, and drawing. His work explores themes of social justice, migration, and memory, reflecting on the delicate balance between human fragility and strength. With public sculptures across Europe and Africa, Aguirre’s art examines the role of space and community in shaping collective memory.

Gommaar Gilliams (b. 1982, Belgium) creates paintings that blend abstraction and symbolism, capturing emotion, memory, and the subconscious. His textured compositions, built through layers of acrylic and oil, evoke a sense of fluidity, exploring how harmony and tension coexist. Gilliams’ work invites viewers into a space where myth and memory intertwine.

Simon Buret (b. 1981, France) explores transformation and introspection through his mixed-media works. His paintings balance raw energy with contemplative rhythm, offering a space for reflection on the emotional equilibrium within human experience. Buret’s compositions convey a deep sensitivity to the human condition, prompting viewers to meditate on the interplay of tension and harmony.

Anaïs Maar (b. 1993, France) creates dynamic self-portraits and abstract compositions that explore identity and intimacy. For Maar, painting is both an eruption and a meditation—an elemental force like the Mediterranean Sea, serene yet tempestuous. Her emotionally charged compositions, with a vibrant palette and compulsive motifs, weave personal experience and collective myth into a visual language that is visceral, poetic, and timeless.

Together, these artists engage with the interplay of chaos and harmony, offering unique perspectives on transformation and the interconnectedness of personal and collective experience.
