Enter Art Fair: Copenhagen | Denmark

Lokomotivværkstedet , 29 August - 1 September 2024
BOOTH 48
Nil Gallery is pleased to present a dynamic collective exhibition at Booth 48 during Enter Art Fair 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark, from August 29 to September 1. Featuring six contemporary artists—Sara Benabdallah (Morocco), Nabil El Makhloufi (Morocco/Germany), Kpe Innocent (Ghana), Simon Buret (France), Alexandre Furcolin (Brazil), and Gommaar Gilliams (Belgium)—this exhibition unites diverse perspectives that explore identity, memory, and the human experience.

Sara Benabdallah and Nabil El Makhloufi draw from their Moroccan roots, offering narratives that bridge cultural heritage and modernity. Benabdallah’s photography and films navigate gender roles in Moroccan society, while El Makhloufi’s vibrant paintings reflect on migration and belonging, blending Moroccan and European influences.

Kpe Innocent and Simon Buret delve into the emotional core of the human experience. Innocent’s minimalist paintings emphasize universal themes of hope and resilience, while Buret’s symbolic works, rooted in mythology and history, balance strength and vulnerability.

Alexandre Furcolin and Gommaar Gilliams push the boundaries of their mediums through abstraction and symbolism. Furcolin’s Color Fields series transforms photography into a pure emotional language, focusing on color over narrative. Gilliams’ large-scale paintings and wall hangings blend abstract expressionism with figurative elements, creating layered compositions that connect past and present through shared symbols.

At Booth 48, NIL Gallery invites you to explore these artists’ unique visions, where personal and collective histories merge, and the boundaries between abstract and figurative art dissolve into powerful expressions of contemporary life.
